I tried to, really, I forced myself to tape it and watch.. but elena was.. erv.. not of her type, she seemed rather ugly to me, so I quit..
I'd watch Барышня-крестьянка.. errmm.. Baryshnya-krestiyanka - that's the movie Amedia wanted to get Elena as Anna for
Girls say she was superb!! young and beautiful;))

oreok писал(а): THIS AUTHOR (OR RATHER A TEXT OF HIM) APPEARED AT SOME POINT IN BN BUT I DON'T QUITE REMEMBER WHERE... (IF ANYONE OF YOU DOES, PLEASE TELL US / ME) WE MENTIONED HIM AT THE GREEK FORUM.

ALEXANDER SERGUEEVICH GRIBOYEDOV (1795 – 1829)
mentioned by anna while choosing what was she going to read at the audition in theatre(she has just come to Petersburg, left Vladimir, but dreaming of him of course, and the imagination is so vivid that she actually sees Vladimir, and has a dialog with him)
no doubt you know that scene!!!! it is kinda romantic
....a small contribute to oreok`s university..

I actually found the exact dialog that Anna and Vladimir were having in that bn episode,….the dialog from A.S. Griboyedov`s most significant play called Горе от ума translated as "The Woes of Wit" or "Wit Works Woe'

„...the hero of the piece is Chatsky, the ironical satirist, just returned from western Europe, who exposes and ridicules the weaknesses of the rest, his words echoing the democratic, constitutional aspirations of the young generation of 1820
...
His disappointment in Sofya is perfectly candid and real: how could a girl who had shared in his laughter at the world have come to prefer the poker-faced, obsequious little clerk Molchalin? His gradual disillusionment is the real action of the play.
....
Those who have played him, on the other hand, are more likely to compare him to Hamlet, a character with his own propensity to unnecessary self-expression, who has likewise been both an enigma to critics and a challenge to actors."

The dialog is between Chatsky and the girl he is in love with,Sofia.
(and the blue part was used in BN)

ACT III ,Scene 1

Chatsky, then Sofia.

Vladimir,Anna

Chatsky
I'll wait till she confides to me.
Whom does she care for? Molchalin! Skalozub! Who is it?
Molchalin used to be so stupid,
A miserable creature, it was plain to see.
He hasn't grown any wiser. And the other one
Is rough and hoarse, a husky man.
A constellaton of mazurkas and manouvres. Love
Is doomed to play the blind man's bluff.
And I...
(Enter Sofia)
Oh, are you here? I'm very glad.
I wished it so.

Sofia
(to herself)
It is too bad.

Chatsky
It isn't me you were looking for, is it?

Sofia
I didn't look for you.

Chatsky
Maybe, it isn't fit
That I should ask you. Tell me, be so kind,
Whom do you love?

Sofia
Good heavens! All mankind.

Chatsky
And whom do you prefer?

Sofia
Well, there are relatives...

Chatsky
You love me most of all!

Sofia
Some of them, that is.

Chatsky
What do I hope for, when all is done?
I'm prepared to kill myself while she's having fun.

Sofia
Shall I be frank with you?
It's not polite to laugh at everyone.
You always have a ready tongue
When people don't behave the way you do.
And you...

Chatsky
I'm a funny man, you mean to say?

Sofia
You're menacing. You look and talk that way.
You have a lot of other negatives like that,
Self criticism wouldn't do you bad.

Chatsky
I'm queer! All men are queer as rule.
He isn't queer who's like a fool.
Molchalin, for example...

Sofia
Well, it isn't new to me;
You make no bones about pouring out your acidity.
I hate to bother you. I'll leave.

Chatsky
(holding her back)
Don't go.
(Aside)
For once I'll make believe.
(aloud)
Let's drop it. Arguments aside!

………………………………………
I left that first part due to some very interesting sentences spoken by Chatsky, that really reminded me of Vladimir`s character –like that self-confident sentence: ”you love me most of all”
Things fall down. People look up. And when it rains, it pours.

HELLO MY DEAR HONEYPIES :D !!!

FIRST OF ALL:

JELENA LOVE :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. WHEN I READ YOUR MESSAGE ABOUT WHERE THIS PARTICULAR "GRIBOYEDOV" TEXT APPEARS IN "NASTYA" I REMEMBERED IT AGAIN AT ONCE. OOOOHHH IT WAS SUCH A GOOD SCENE, THE ONE WHERE ANNA IS RECITING THAT PART. LOVED IT !!!!! :P

I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE BIT WHERE SHE (SOFIA / ANNA) TELLS HIM (CHATSKY / VALODJA)

You're menacing. You look and talk that way.
You have a lot of other negatives like that,
Self criticism wouldn't do you bad.

HA HA HA SHE'S SOOO RIGHT BUT ON THE OTHER HAND THAT'S WHY I WAS AND STILL AM SO TERRIBLY FOND OF VALODJA

I PROMISED TO HAVE A LOOK ONLINE CONCERNING ALEXANDER BLOK AND JOSEPH BRODSKY. WELL, WHAT CAN I SAY? PERSONALLY, I'M THRILLED ABOUT WHAT IS AVAILABLE ONLINE. ESPECIALLY THE MATERIAL ON BRODSKY (HE WAS AWARDED THE NOBEL AWARD FOR LITERATURE) IS LOVELY AND I COULD GET ADDICTED TO IT. SO HERE IS WHAT I FOUND AND I WISH ALL OF YOU LOTS OF FUN :D  AND I'M SURE YOU WILL FEEL AS ENRICHED AS I DO. :)

SWEETIES, I MUST ADMIT THAT IF OUR DARLING DANYA IS READING ALL THESE RATHER SOPHISTICATED, INTELLECTUAL AND DEMANDING AUTHORS (ESENIN, MAYAKOVSKI, BLOK, BRODSKY), THEN HE IS A REALLY INTELLIGENT, EDUCATED, MATURE PERSONALITY    WITH A SERIOUS, DEEP, ATTRACTIVE MIND   AND I'M IMPRESSED. HONESTLY, I HATE GUYS WITHOUT BRAINS  AND PRAISED BE THE LORD FOR HAVING GIVEN HIM LOTS OF IT !!!!!!!!

Oreok !
In addition to your list of Russian and European writers…mentioned in BN
today I saw this episode where one more important name of nineteenth century literature was mentioned!!!!

Honore de Balzac, one of the creators of the realism in literature

Aleksandr found a book in Korf`s library and said something like oh , Honore de Balzac, the tsar didn’t like french literature but he was going to read it!

The pain lives in my heart, so grim,
And I can see that, to the fear
Of fate, years pass me by like dreams;"

Yes, Benkendorf says to the emperor that Lermontov is an enemy of the empire and he wants to punish him. Alexander II defends Lermontov and his poetry. At the end, they decide to send Lermontov to Kavkaz. (And you know what hapenned to him there.)

Yes, I just can't forgive him, but there's no smart death. Let's say it was predestined or something like that. Lermontov is really great poet and novelist. And he still lives. In our hearts and thoughts. Am I too pathetic?
